Variable-depth grooves are deepest in the centre and get gradually shallower toward the perimeter to equalise ball speeds across the face for unmatched distance control. PING studies show an increase in ball-speed consistency of nearly 50% compared to a non-grooved face when measured at nine points across the face. An elastomer back-cavity insert repositions mass from the face to enhance sound and feel while increasing MOI for maximising forgiveness.
