WITB: Justin Rose - Indonesian Masters

Powered by National Club Golfer

Rose adds his third win in 2017 with the help of a new lob wedge.

Three wins since October for Justin Rose – that’s what you call finishing the year in style.

And it has been three victories – HSBC Champions, Turkish Airlines Open, Indonesian Masters – all with pretty much exactly the same TaylorMade gear.

We’ve just seen him add one new wedge – the same one Dustin Johnson had also been using.

As I’m sure you are well aware, the 37-year-old has switched from the TaylorMade M2 to the M1 driver since he lost in a play-off to Sergio Garcia at the Masters.

He uses the 2016 M2 3-wood – one of the best fairway woods released in recent years according to our test results.

We first saw the Rose Proto irons after the Masters which are a slightly modified version of the new P730. The Rose Proto were created with input from the player himself.

Rory McIlroy has his Rors Proto and Johnson the DJ Proto but it’s Johnson’s irons which are the closest to the models available to members of the public.

He uses the bladed Rose Proto from 5-PW with a P790 4 and 3-iron for a bit more power and forgiveness.

One of the key factors behind Rose rediscovering his form has definitely the way he has looked more assured on the greens.

There has been a bit of a merry-go-round with Rose’s putter this year as he’s used a few from the new TaylorMade TP Red Collection.

The model in play in Turkey, China and Indonesia was the Ardmore 2 but we have seen him use the Chaska as well.

His wedges are the TaylorMade Milled Grind with the introduction of the new Hi-Toe lob wedge and he plays the TaylorMade TP5 ball.
