Former N Sync singer Justin Timberlake has signed a new deal with golf manufacturer Callaway.

The singer, who used to date fellow pop star Britney Spears, will play with Callaway equipment and carry a golf bag with the company's name emblazoned across it.

A deal was arranged after a custom-fitting session for the 27-year-old, but the actual terms and conditions of the contract have not been disclosed.

Timberlake plays off a six-handicap and also hosts one of the annual events on the PGA Tour.

He puts his name towards the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which took place in mid-October this year.

George Fellows, president and chief executive officer of Callaway Golf, said: '[The singer] has everything we look for when signing new talent - natural ability, a solid work ethic and passion for the game.'

He added that the manufacturer was 'thrilled' to have Timberlake on board.
