Fred Funk carded a final round of 69 at Crosswater, Oregon to secure victory in the JELD-WEN Tradition.
The event is one of five Majors on the Champions Tour and the 52-year-old had to stave off competition from a star-studded field to lift the trophy.
Funk, who never came close to winning a Major in open-age golf, finished on 19 under par to win by three strokes from Mike Goodes.
Five-time Open champion Tom Watson and former US Ryder Cup player Jay Haas tied for third, while Major winners Fuzzy Zoeller and Bernhard Langer also finished in the top ten.
Afterwards Funk revealed that playing aggressive golf and not worrying about protecting his lead had been the key to his success.
"In my mind I just wanted to get up as far as I could and basically bury the field," he explained.
The final Champions Tour Major of the season is October's Seniors Players Championship at Baltimore Country Club.
