Denmark make history at Centurion with GolfSixes glory

Thorbjørn Olesen and Lucas Bjerregaard fired Team Denmark to the inaugural GolfSixes title following a 3-1 victory over Team Australia.

Following two days of pulsating group stage and knockout action where the European Tour's 16 team format had broken new ground the Danish duo found themselves up against Aussies Scott Hend and Sam Brazel in the final.

After the opening two holes the teams couldn't be separated until a birdie on the third put the Australian's in the driving seat. Denmark, though, recovered after both Hend and Brazel found the water from the fourth tee to level things up.

The Danes then birdied the final two holes coming home to secure the match and make Tour history in the process taking the first ever GolfSixes crown.

Elsewhere, the Scottish pairing of Marc Warren and Richie Ramsay defeated Italy's Matteo Manassero and Renato Paratore in the third place play-off.

After six holes the teams couldn't be separated and were forced to an extra hole with nearest the pin taking the match. Warren stepped up and knocked his in tight to the flag with partner Ramsay losing his left.

Italian Paratore followed Warren in close but was left heartbroken as his effort landed just 4 inches further from the flag than the Scotsman's tee shot - it was down to team-mate Mannassero.

The 24-year-old couldn't quite match his partner as his 7-iron landed over the back settling on the fringe leaving Scotland to take third outright.
