It’s all in the make-up: Introducing the FootJoy Golf DNA Shoe
The DNA name stands for ‘DryJoys Next Advancement’ and that’s exactly what you’ll get from FootJoy Golf’s stunning new golf shoe.
The Look: First Impressions
The DNA is a visually-appealing golf shoe. Somehow FootJoy has managed to combine cutting edge technology and advanced material into footwear which doesn’t resemble a football boot and instead is clearly a very tidy golf shoe. The clean classic lines and understated design, coupled with the glossy finish on the heel work to compliment the golf shoe in all its colour assortments – with the all black model providing more of a modern touch.
The ChromoSkin upper is made from soft Pittards leather tanned in such a way that it is waterproof without actually requiring the use of a membrane. This makes the shoe more breathable, and it’s easy to break in after a couple of rounds too. Basically a golfer can wear the DNA’s straight out of the box.
The upper is supple yet still provides the walking and lateral support through the swing that a player needs and also expects from a golf shoe of this quality.
An Athletic Design
Design is so important when it comes to footwear, something which FootJoy is glaringly aware of. The DNA shoes combine athletic performance with simple comfort, resulting in a wonderful experience on the greens. The SnugFit tongue with MicroVent™ technology shapes to the foot while providing breathability, while a 3D FoamCollar moulds to the ankle for unsurpassed support, comfort and fit.
When we said players would be comfortable wearing FootJoy DNA shoes, we weren’t really being clear enough. The truth is, wearing DNA shoes is extremely comfortable! The lightweight cushioned Fine Tune Foam (FTF) fit-bed provides optimum underfoot comfort and heel support. Generous traction is achieved via the NitroThin TPU outsole which provides lightweight stability and performance. Stealth Cleats by Softspikes help to achieve a low profile while the thinner spec receptacles ensure low-profile performance through the P.I.N.S. system.
Before moving away from the design side of things, Nitro Last needs to be mentioned. The Nitro Last offers a full rounded toe character, slightly shallow forefoot, slightly narrow heel and standard instep. The extra depth helps accommodate a thicker fit-bed for enhanced cushioning.
For long-time fans of FootJoy Golf, this one’s a no-brainer. With a fantastic history of creating excellent footwear, anyone who’s familiar with FJ should jump at the chance of owning their DNA shoe. Golfer who aren’t so familiar with FootJoy, the DNA is a great place to start. Mixing comfort with performance is tricky to master, but the DNA manages this at a canter. They look smart, feel great and will offer hours of comfort for any player.
