Phil Mickelson Wins Scottish Open Title

Phil Mickelson won in thrilling fashion to win the Scottish Open in Inverness after coming through a sudden-death play-off against South Africa’s Branden Grace.

Mickelson soaked up the early pressures and managed to survive a couple of wobbles with a three-putt on the 18th forcing the play-off with both he and Grace finishing on 17 under par.

The 43-year-old American birdied the first play-off hole via a sublime chip which left him a tap-in, which Grace could not match.

It was a victory that Mickelson needed and the left-hander will now concentrate on picking up more momentum throughout the remainder of the golf season.
