Presidents Cup: US Hold Slender Lead
The United States hold a slender lead after finishing their opening day of the Presidents Cup on a high at Muirfield Village by claiming a 3½-2½ tilt over the International team.
Jordan Spieth and Steve Stricker won the final four-ball of the day to give the defending champions a much-needed edge in the game.
Play was disrupted amidst a series of weather warnings. The green was already under siege from poor conditions, and then shortly thereafter play was suspended due to the threat of lightning.
Earlier on in the day, Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar, along with Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson, had claimed victory in their four-balls for the hosts.
