American Stacy Lewis showed why she is one of the best young talents in the world with a sensational nine-under 63 in the first round of the LPGA Thailand, Chonburi.
She started with an eagle '2' at her third hole and included another 8 birdies and a bogey in an action packed round that gave her a three-shot lead over Karine Icher.
The highlight of the round came at the third, when Lewis holed a 145-yard eight-iron for eagle. "I really started hitting the ball solid early on. Holed out for eagle on No. 3 and from there, I don’t know, that shot just really gave me the confidence to really start swinging at it. I think I missed two greens all day. I just had a ton of birdie putts and I even left a few out there. The fact that it could be lower – I’m not complaining."
