Two excited kids pick up Martin Kaymer’s ball
It was great to see so many young fans attending the Race to Dubai finale at Jumeriah Golf Estates this weekend.
Introducing children to the game early is the best way to get them hooked.
Unfortunately some parents may also be new to the game so aren’t quite able to explain all the rules and nuances that comes with watching the sport live.
That certainly seemed the case as Martin Kaymer fired his second shot to the par-5 18th during his second round.
The ball went long and right, clattering into the spectator grandstand before finishing up in the rough at the back of the green.
Two young fans then pounce on the ball like cats chasing a mouse and proudly show it to the male adult accompanying them.
“Over excitement got the better of them,” claimed commentator Ewen Murray.
Kaymer was able to take a drop so no harm was done.
