Check out the clubs which Xander Schauffele used to claim a stunning win at the Tour Championship at East Lake...
What a breakthrough year it has been for American Xander Schauffele.
I’m not sure too many armchair fans would have heard of the Californian 12 months ago despite a stellar amateur career.
At just 23 he now has two PGA Tour wins to his name including one of the biggest victories outside of a major – the Tour Championship.
He also bagged a fifth place finish at the US Ope earlier this year.
His heroics at East Lake weren’t enough to take the $10m FedEx Cup bonus – that went to player of the year Justin Thomas who finished one shot back.
Schauffele, needing a birdie to win at the last, fired a 347-yard bomb of a drive with his TaylorMade M2 to give him a chance of reaching the green of the par-5 in two.
He came up just short but was able to get up and down to seal a sensational victory.
Schauffele is a TaylorMade staff player but probably has a 10-club deal as he has a full set of Vokey wedges in the bag and an Odyssey putter.
It seems that only the big guns like Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose and Jason Day that get signed up on the big money 14-club deals.
But Schauffele was certainly getting the job done with his 2017 M2 with an average driving distance of 325 yards. The field average was 310.
Like Garcia, he uses a combination of the M2 driver and M1 3-wood.
Schauffele also uses the same irons as Garcia – the P750 which are slightly sleeker than the P770.
We did see him testing out a P790 long iron at the WGC-Bridgestone and it was P790 2-iron that was in the bag in Atlanta.
