- Build: Well built, pleasing to the eye, easy to use and a fairly good battery life.
GPS: Very handy especially when determining distance to the green and hole.
Notifications: Great for letting you know when a message comes through on your mobile etc.
Courses data: Excellent in showing data on each hole allowing for zooming in, seeing directions of the hole when out of line of sight, bunkers, etc.
Configuration: Lots of options to add or remove widgets to suit your needs.
Alerts: While there is no actual sound, the watch has various vibrate levels so you will at least feel an alert come through.
Battery life: Fairly reasonable. I spent over 7 hours on the golf course with GPS active and at the end the watch still had over 50% charge left.
Charge time: It takes around 2 hours to charge the watch which is reasonable.
Tough screen: This seems fairly robust and sensitive to the touch with quick response.
Online updates: Updates can be checked online through the Garmin app. Course updates are fairly regular. Updating the watch takes around an hour depending on how much data changed.
Recording of your data: This is done through the Garmin connect app which is fully customisable and shows a great deal of info to keep many golfers happy. The watch will send data to your mobile which uploads it to Garmin Connect or you can upload data to your pc when connected via the USB cable which is supplied. Very convenient.
- Steps: This measures distance travelled rather than actual steps. When walking it's fine but it also records my steps as walking when I am actually driving around the course in a golf buggy! It's not very relaible in that aspect.
Gear: The watch/app doesn't correctly calculate your shots on different clubs. I have had it list me for achieving a 505 yards shot using a Hybrid 4! The accuaracy on distances with various clubs is very questionable.
Scorecards: Doesn't accurately record data from driving to putting. This is very hit and miss where 98% of the time you'll only see the results shown as a straight line from the tee to the hole showing x number of putts.
Watch strap: This could be a problem for people with rather thick wrists as it seems rather short. I would like to see it lengthened by another inch to allow for this.
USB port and Water resistance: Not tested so I can't comment on this however there seems to be no rubber cover to protect the USB port from the water or gathering grime!
