Breaking 70

Whenever you hit a ball in a bunker with a short iron you’ve got to expect it to be lying badly. If it’s plugged, don’t freak out, master this shot you’ll knock it close every time.

By Jamie Harris

1. Stand with a closed stance and shut the clubface. Play the ball off your back foot.

2. Align your feet, knees, hips and shoulders to the right of the target.

3. Hit down on the top of the ball. Commit to the shot and accelerate through the impact.

4. Follow these instructions and the ball will pop out and land softly. If you're going to break 70, getting out of the sand isn't good enough - you have to get up and down.
