How to stop coming over the top and slicing the ball

Powered by National Club Golfer

Slicing the ball is one of the most common faults among amateur golfers. But why does it happen?

The main cause comes from ‘coming over the top’ during the swing and making contact with the ball from the outside, rather than the inside. Slicing the ball is very frustrating as it means the ball will usually end up missing the fairway or the green to the right. But it also massively reduces the distance and power, particularly when using the driver. If we can get the swing path and make contact on the inside, this will stop the slice - resulting in more distance.
