Dunhill Links Plays Host To Multiple Major Winners
The European Tour has enjoyed a big boost this week, courtesy of the news that no fewer than 12 major champions will line up at next week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
The trio of recent South African major champs Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, and Ernie Els take pride of place in the line-up, and they'll be in good company.
The field also boasts several other major winners including Martin Kaymer, Padraig Harrington, Michael Campbell, Paul Lawrie, Vijay Singh, Darren Clarke, Shaun Micheel, Rich Beem and Retief Goosen.
Ahead of the event, and his return to the scene of his breakthrough win at The Open win, Oosthuizen said: "St Andrews was always a special place for me even before my win there, but after that it meant everything - so much history, so many memories, and knowing that I would be part of it forever.
I like to have fun on the golf course, and the format at the Dunhill certainly lends itself to that."
The Dunhill's combined format of a Pro-Am Competition, and individual prize for the pros always provides a great incentive for big name players, and celebrities alike to come and take on the links-based challenge, and it's great to see such a strong line-up assembling.
With many big European players having upped sticks to the States in recent times, the entertaining looking line-up at the Dunhill will no doubt warm the hearts of all those at European Tour HQ.
