PGA Championship 2013: Groups to Watch

If you haven't got much time on your hands today for watching the first round's action from the PGA Championship then; 1) Why not? and 2) Here are our pick of the the best groups on offer, and their tee times so that you know when you most need to be in front of your telly box.

12:35 - Hunter Mahan, Paul Casey, and Billy Horschel

Out early is an intriguing three-ball made up of in-form, and major-seeking Hunter Mahan, the rejuvenated Paul Casey, and he of the trouser, Billy Horschel. Mahan is the most likely to threaten this week (though sleepless nights might be a factor after having just become a father), but Casey and Horschel are big momentum players and will always fancy their chances.

12:55 - Sergio Garcia, Matt Kuchar, and Rickie Fowler

This is 'one of those' groupings where you wouldn't dare rule out any of the three players chances of winning straight off the bat. Many would love to see Sergio finally come good, few could deny Kuchar a major scalp, and Fowler winning would be great for the game. Should make for a good watch.

13:25 - Henrik Stenson, Dustin Johnson, and Charl Schwartzel

Even more so than the aforementioned 12:55 three-ball, this is 'one of those' groupings which could easily provide the winner of the tournament. DJ has threatened several times now in majors, Schwartzel already has one to his name, and Stenson is one of the hottest players on the planet right now. Look to DJ for power, Schwartzel for the silky smooth swing, and Stenson for the unpredictable.

13:35 - Davis Love III, Keegan Bradley, and Tiger Woods

World number one Tiger Woods begins his quest for that elusive 15th major title at 13:35, and he's in good company too, playing alongside 1997 champ Davis Love III, and 2011 champ, and runner-up to Woods at the WGC Bridgestone last weekend, Keegan Bradley.

18:15 - Miguel Angel Jimenez, Webb Simpson, and Angel Cabrera

This group is one for the clubhouse lingerers, and those amongst us that love nothing more than a glass of claret and a cheeky cigar, It's not often that Miguel, and Angel pair up, other than in Jimenez's full name, but we can't wait to see it. Throw in to the mix a major winner in Webb Simpson, and you've got a good group here.

18:45 - Adam Scott, Phil Mickelson, and Justin Rose

It's become tradition at the fourth major of the year, the PGA, for the year's three major winners to go head-to-head over the opening two rounds and this year is no exception. Expect fireworks from Lefty, sublime tee-to-green action from Rosey and Adam Scott's sublime swing. What's not to love?
