Justin Rose soared back to the top of the world rankings after edging out Haotong Li in a thrilling finish at the Turkish Airlines Open.
Premier League footballers Scott Parker and Gylfi Sigurdsson were amongst the first golfers in the UK to tee off with the new Nike Golf VR_S Covert 2.0 Driver at an exclusive launch event last night hosted by american golf.
The footballers joined a select group of customers and competition winners from both american golf and Nike Golf at our New Malden store for the much-anticipated launch of the VR_S Covert 2.0 range in the UK.
Those in attendance were given the opportunity to try the Covert 2.0 at the store’s adjoining driving range and many came away impressed with the innovation on offer to them. High-Speed Cavity Back technology redistributes weight to the heel and toe allowing for increased distance and more stability across the face of the driver.
The VRS Covert 2.0 drivers feature two additional proprietary technologies with a larger, re-engineered NexCOR face for increased ball speed and distance, and FlexLoft adjustability, which allows athletes to easily customise loft and face angle positions for 15 drivers in one.
Speaking exclusively to Golfmagic last night, Scott Parker said: "American Golf's facility at New Malden was first class, and I was delighted to see some significant improvements in my numbers after the fitting with the Nike Golf staff. It was a great night and lots of fun."
Dan Gathercole, American Golf’s Head of Marketing, said: "As Europe’s leading golf retailer we were delighted to partner with Nike and launch the VRS Covert 2.0 in the UK.
"The driver is an outstanding innovation, which offers golfers the chance to significantly improve their game by driving longer and straighter off the tee.
"Judging by the reaction of Scott and the other guests who attended the launch event, the VRS Covert 2.0 will quickly become this season’s must have item for all serious golfers."
Nike Golf opened up its European Tour Truck at the event, providing guests with a glimpse of the testing facilities and equipment used by the likes of Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey and Francesco Molinari during the Tour campaign.
The Nike VRS Covert 2.0, including the Tour driver that Rory used to win the Australian Open with, is available from February 1 in all of American Golf’s 102 stores across the UK or online at americangolf.co.uk
