Rory McIlroy makes an elderly fan's dream come true
Before hitting the greens for the first round of the Travelers Championship, Rory McIlroy made one elderly fan’s dream come true.
Noreen Murnane was at the TPC River Highlands thanks to the non-profit organisation ‘Wish of a Lifetime’, which gives OAPs the opportunity to do things that they’ve always wanted to do.
For Noreen, that dream was to meet her favourite golfer, Rory McIlroy. According to the four-time major winner on his Instagram post, Noreen is a huge golf fan and moved from Ireland to the USA in 1968. However, six years ago, she suffered a stroke, affecting her ability to play the game.
McIlroy gave Noreen an autographed Travelers Championship tournament flag. a picture, and an experience she is unlikely to ever forget.
The former world No.1 then went out and shot a three-under-par 67 in the opening round to sit four shots behind leader Jordan Spieth.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting this great lady, Noreen Murnane at the @travelerschamp Noreen moved to the United States from Ireland in 1963 but sadly 6 years ago suffered a stroke. Given Noreen's passion for golf, she contacted @wishofalifetime asking to meet with me. I was honoured to make her wish come true!
