It’s all go for January after the R&A and USGA published their finalised Rules of Golf. So what’s coming in? Steve Carroll outlines the changes.
Rory misses the ball completely
Club golfers can take heart from the fact that even the world’s number one player can completely miss the ball.
Rory McIlroy made thousands of golfers feel better about themselves when attempting to play a flop shot to the 9th green at The Players Championship on Saturday.
With the ball sat up in the thick Bermuda rough, McIlroy made his swing and then looked towards the green.
However, he then looked down towards his feet to see his ball still sat there in front of him.
We had earlier seen Tiger Woods do something similar. So it does happen to the very best and is reason why you shouldn’t be too harsh on yourself.
McIlroy wasn’t too phased by the incident. He went on to play the shot correctly at the second attempt and tapped in for a par 5.
