Sedlescombe pair qualify for national ladies golf final
Sedlescombe golfers Carol Ticehurst and Lindy Montandon, both members at Sedlescombe Golf Club, have made it through to the National Grand Final of the American Golf Ladies Championship after a tough qualifying competition at Rustington Golf Club. The pair will now take their places at Ryder Cup venue The Belfry on 9th & 10th September to battle it out over the Brabazon Course for the title of best Ladies Pair in the U.K.
The pair played some superb golf in the better ball stableford format, coming in with 51 points – 5 ahead of their closest rivals. This convincing victory sets them up as one of the pre-tournament favourites for the showpiece final at the iconic Midland Ryder Cup venue. Other qualifiers for the final were Charlotte Hinge and Celine Graciet from Brighton & Hove Golf Club In second place and Maggie Hopkins and Sarah Cooper Olsen from Rustington and Worthing Golf Cubs taking the final spot.
“After the success of our 9 Hole and Junior Championships last year, we added the Ladies Championship for 2016,” comments Daniel Gathercole Head of Marketing at American Golf. “We’ve been delighted with the amount of Ladies taking part and look forward to welcoming all the qualifiers to the Belfry for a wonderful weekend of golf that will end with the crowning of our first ever Ladies Champions.”
Entry to all of the American Golf Championships, including the American Golf Ladies Championship, is free and is part of the nationwide retailer’s drive to promote the game of golf and get more people out playing golf more often.
