Justin Rose soared back to the top of the world rankings after edging out Haotong Li in a thrilling finish at the Turkish Airlines Open.
Cheyenne Woods is setting her sights on making big waves on the golf course as she aims to prove her uncle isn’t the only family member who excels on the greens.
Cheyenne is the niece of 14-time major winner Tiger Woods and she says it is an honour to be related to the world number one, although her intention is to make a name for herself, starting by qualifying for the British Open in early August.
Cheyenne told BBC Sport: “It’s an honour to have the last name Woods but I want to be known for my own golf,” the 23-year-old reiterated.
She will be embarking on her first full season as a professional as part of the Ladies European Tour, and if she is to be playing at the Open then there is plenty of work still ahead. She will attempt to clinch a place at St Andrews at the Ladies European Masters at Buckinghamshire Golf Club between 26-28 July. Should she be unsuccessful in this pursuit then she faces an anxious day in the final qualifying at Kingsbarns Golf Club on 29 July.
