Tiger Woods commits to return at Safeway Open

Powered by National Club Golfer

Tiger Woods will return to the PGA Tour next week.

The 14-time Major champion met a deadline and officially committed to play in the Safeway Open, staged at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California.

Woods hasn’t teed it up in anger since a top 10 finish at the Wyndham Championship in August 2015.

But following a drawn out rehabilitation from microdiscectomy surgery, the 40-year-old is now only days away from getting back into action.

He has 79 PGA Tour titles, three short of tying Sam Snead’s all-time record of 82 and, last week, was a vice-captain on the USA’s Ryder Cup-winning team.
