Brooks Koepka put in a masterful performance to hold off a final round 63 from Tommy Fleetwood to successfully defend his US Open title at Shinnecock Hills.
Vijay Becoming A Champion
Fiji’s pride and joy, Vijay Singh, is to start his transition into the older echelons of the golfing world next week, as he tees it up in his first Champions Tour event.
The three-time major champion, once ranked at the very summit of the game, has now taken the difficult decision to begin to move into the senior’s ranks after a testing year.
Singh, who has always been a man of few words, hasn’t spoken much about this career transition as yet, but stated the following via a press release: “I am very pleased to be playing my first Champions Tour event in Hawaii at the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship.”
The former world number one certainly won’t be expecting an easy ride though when he links up with the Champions Tour for the first time, as right from the off he’ll come head-to-head with the likes of Bernhard Langer, and Kenny Perry, both of whom continue to defy their advancing years.
2013 has proved a tricky year for the ‘Big Fijian’, as he has been embroiled in a drugs scandal after admitting to the use of ‘deer antler spray’, and his form has struggled to maintain itself.
Maybe, this is why the big man is deciding to take a step back from the PGA Tour, and if it is then who could blame him?
Singh has been a credit to the Tour, and it would be a surprise if he didn’t go on to take the Champions Tour by storm.
