Padraig Harrington stays on for 18th consecutive year with Wilson

Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington has put pen to paper and announced he will remain loyal to Wilson, taking his run with the golf brand giants into an 18th consecutive year.

After almost two decades with the company Harrington was eager to stay on the books. And just a month removed from winning the Indonesia Open, his first victory since 2010, Harrington is itching for more silverware this season.

“It's not a surprise that I have chosen to stay with the brand with whom I have won three Majors,” the 43-year-old Irishman said in a statement. “The equipment is pivotal to my success on Tour, and I have been with Wilson almost from the start of my professional career. They provide the tools I need to continue striving for perfection.”

Doug Wright, Wilson Golf’s European Commercial Director, expressed his own delight at Harrington’s decision to stick with them, saying: “We’re delighted that Padraig has chosen to re-sign with us and continue the excellent working relationship that has helped bring so much success over the last 17 years. He’s the perfect ambassador for a brand that has won more Major championships with its irons (61) and wedges (82) than any other, and we look forward to more success next year.”

Harrington and Wilson joined forces in 1998 and neither the brand nor the player has looked back since as he went on to lift three major trophies, including his famous back-to-back Open Championship successes in 2007 and 2008.

Winning is a way of life for Wilson, and that has been one of the driving forces behind Harrington’s motivation over the years. Taking questions from the press last month following his 29th international win on the Asian Tour, Harrington admitted that achieving victory was something he had become entirely addicted to. “Winning is a good habit to have,” he said. “It gives you a lot of confidence and I need that confidence.”

So what’s next for Harrington? The golfer is preparing to carry his momentum from recent success over into 2015 and is looking forward to utilising Wilson Golf’s latest technologies.

With equipment including Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 Irons and new Infinite South Side Mallet Putter, Harrington is seeking even greater success in what he hopes will be a crowning year in his already glittering career.
