Sheva Set To Tee It Up On The Challenge Tour
In a big week for Ukrainian sport that has seen their football team play out a goal-less draw with England, attentions now turn to golf as the country prepares to host its first ever Challenge Tour event.
Not only is the country making its Challenge tour bow, but so too is national footballing legend Andriy Shevchenko, of AC Milan, and Chelsea fame.
This week will mark the football legend's first ever appearance in a professional golf event. Ahead of his, and Ukraine's debut appearances on Tour, he said: "This is the first big event for me and of course it is the first event in Ukraine so it's a huge event for golf in this country.
I have played with many good players in pro-ams but this is different. I hope I play well...but I just want to have a good time and enjoy the week.”
He added: "I'm happy with my game at the moment. I know the president of the club, he is a good friend and his daughter has been caddying for me. He invited me to come and I had to. It's nice the Challenge Tour have decided to come here."
If Sheva's even half as good at sinking putts, as he was at putting the ball between the posts in an AC Milan, and a Ukraine shirt, then we have no doubt he'll do just fine this week.
