PING Golf G400 Range lands at American Golf

It has been close to a year and a half since PING released its much-celebrated G Series, and now we’ve been treated to the next generation of golf clubs in the line: G400.

The most notable change in the G400 driver, fairway and hybrid is the addition of a new tungsten weight bar, which helps save even more weight in other parts of the driver. In the case of the G400, this weight appears to be as far back as possible, meaning the G400 exceeds the MOI of previous G-series drivers.

The popular G Series Vortec cavity remains in place, as do the implementation of Turbulators. The weight has been taken down in the clubhead face and crown, thus reducing too much heft in the swing.

PING has been hard at work developing its G400 range, and the company has made some vast improvements to previous models. In terms of technology, there is a redesigned tungsten weight in the sole of the clubs that likely pushes weight lower and deeper in the clubhead to boost forgiveness.

A new dimple pattern on the back portion of the crown blends with the company’s "Dragonfly Technology." The exoskeleton structure was introduced with the previous G line-up and allowed for thinner, more stable head. Raised Turbulators on the front portion of the crown and a Vortec port in the back of the head are once again included to reduce drag and improve swing speed. The fairway wood and hybrid only feature Turbulators on the crown, however.

The G400 Crossover is another good for long approach shots. The utility club is anything similar to the G Crossover; designed to be a long-iron or hybrid replacement. The club features extreme toe weighting for lower and back center of gravity (CG) that expands the club's perimeter weighting for a high MOI with hybrid-like forgiveness. Unlike the previous model, this has heavier tungsten weight that's visible in the toe.

The PING Golf G400 range is available now at American Golf.
