Rickie Fowler hits an ace and gets beers in for the media

Rickie Fowler’s tee shot on the ninth hole in the first round of the Quicken Loans turned out to be his final one.

Coming off a bogey the Players champion then knocked it in at the 200-yard 9th, his final hole of the day, for a four-under 67.

The ace meant one lucky fan had their mortgage paid for a year thanks to the tournament sponsors.

Instead of a new car for the golfer involved - every time someone made a hole-in-one on the course Quicken Loans gave one golf fan a mortgage-free year.

But Fowler didn’t want the media to feel left out so sent an ice bucket filled with beers to the media centre with this message - "It's not a mortgage for a year, but enjoy a cold one on me! Cheers!"
