Rory McIlroy beaten in arm wrestle by 17-year-old junior star
Rory McIlroy may be the world’s number one golfer but will have to spend a bit longer in the gym if he wants to compete with the big boys at arm wrestling.
The Northern Irishman has been known to post a picture or two of himself pumping iron but met his match when challenged by 17-year-old college star Brad Dalke.
As part of his Nike sponsorship duties, McIlroy had been visiting the junior invitational at the Sage Valley Golf Club in South Carolina.
After offering some inspirational words and running a golf clinic, the world number one was challenged to an arm wrestle by Dalke - a star of the junior game.
McIlroy was clearly impressed with the biceps of his junior challenger and he gives them a feel before being soundly beaten.
The 17-year-old immediately took to Twitter to post a video of his victory with the words ‘sorry Rory’.
Dalke committed to play for Oklahoma University when he was just 12 years old and is a former Ping Invitational and Kids World Champion.
He was also a member of the USA team which retained the Junior Ryder Cup last year at Blairgowrie.
McIlroy had no option but to swallow his pride and head back to the gym as he prepares for this week’s WGC-Cadillac Match Play.
