It’s all go for January after the R&A and USGA published their finalised Rules of Golf. So what’s coming in? Steve Carroll outlines the changes.
Tiger’s challenge de-railed by horrible shank
Tiger Woods, two shots off the lead going into the final round of the Wyndham Championship, saw his challenge fizzle out with a treble-bogey 7 on the 11th hole.
He missed the fairway and then the green to the left but only had a simple pitch for what looked like a very makable up and down. But after making contact with the hosel, the ball raced across the green and into more rough on the far side.
He then duffed his next chip, chipped on and two-putted for his seven. It left him on -10 when the leaders had reached -17. He followed up with a bogey. Game over.
To his credit, the 14-time major winner rallied with four birdies in his final six holes to finish in a tie for 10th on -13 - his best PGA Tour result of the year.
