WATCH: Rory McIlroy holes birdie putt from 79-feet

Powered by National Club Golfer

It was an up and down week at Quail Hollow for Rory McIlroy - a venue where the Northern Irishman has won twice.

McIlroy shot a course record 61 last year so has proved he’s capable of special things on the Charlotte course.

We were given glimpses of McIlroy’s best stuff and some of his worst as he shot 73, 69, 73, 66.

He finished up on -7 in a tie for 4th place alongside Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler.

His highlight of the week was undoubtedly this birdie putt on the par-3 17th hole during his third round.

From all of 79 feet, breaking left to right and mostly downhill, any player would just be happy to get it within five or six feet.

But in it went and must have given McIlroy some more confidence in his new, left hand below right, putting grip.
