Practice nets allow you to confidently practice full or short golf shots depending on the make and model in a relatively small space. Simply set up your golf net and swing with any club while the ball is captured. These are easy to fold away and are efficiently transportable meaning you can always have your practice net with you. Golf practice mats simulate hitting shots from all different types of golf turf but without obviously taking a divot and therefore can be constantly used as a playing surface. Putting mats and putting aids all help you improve your putting stroke path on an artificial mat which simulates, depending on the mat type, the different real-life green speeds.
For this, you’ll need to set up your alignment sticks. Assume your natural stance with your golf club and place your ball in front of your lead foot. Set up your swing as you normally would, with your clubhead behind the ball. Play a few shots consciously from this position and note how your stance changes. Be aware of how your body moves with the swing and momentum. Avoid swaying and wobbling by shifting your weight on the downswing towards the target and placing it in your lead foot. This way the momentum can almost roll through your body.
You wouldn’t be the first golfer to worry about golf mats damaging your clubs, and it is true that driving range mats could cause damage to your clubheads. This is because they’re made of synthetic grass often with rubber or concrete underneath as a base, whereas a regular golf course will of course be grass and turf. Real grass allows you to make divots on your shots which is both expected gameplay and kinder to your clubheads, as the grass has a lot more leniency and actually comes up with impact. Because driving range mats are both synthetic and secured with a hard foundation, they won’t create divots and therefore the clubhead will meet the ground with more force absorbed. This can lead to greater wear and tear over time.
